Grafting and budding knives must be kept razor sharp so they will cut smoothly. Two grafting knife cutting edge bevel styles are offered, dual-taper and single taper. Some grafting knives include a bark lifter which is used to separate the bark and lift it away from the cambium layer.

Grafting Tape, Wax and Tree Wound Emulsion

First wrap the vine or tree graft with electrical tape or wax covered nurserymen's grafting tape; then you have the option of carefully covering the union and binding material with grafting compound. Emulsion is applied cold with a brush (included in bottles) or paddle to fresh grafting or pruning wounds in most any kind of weather, except while raining or freezing. Always wet the brush or paddle before dipping into the emulsion.
